Contents
Paraffinum liquidum, laureth-3, isopropyl myristate.
Description
QV Bath Oil contains paraffinum liquidum, laureth-3, isopropyl myristate. It contains no perfume, lanolin or lanolin derivatives.
Action
The oils are absorbed by the skin, overcoming the feeling of dryness. It has been shown that patients with dermatoses associated with dry skin absorbed 70% more oil than normal subjects. When emerging from the bath, a thin film of oil adheres to the skin, retarding evaporation and continuing the moisturisation of the skin. QV Bath Oil is only antipruritic if the pruritus is due to dry skin or a condition associated with dry skin.
Indications/Uses
Relief of very dry skin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Maximum therapeutic effect is obtained by using QV Bath Oil in the bath, but it is still effective when applied under the shower. It may also be used as a sponge bath.
Bath: Add 10 mL to a warm bath. Bathe for 5-10 min. Pat skin dry. Infants: Use 2-4 mL in baby's bath.
Shower: Apply undiluted directly on the wet skin; allow to remain for a few minutes. Pat skin dry.
Adjunctive Therapy: Pinetarsol may be added to the bath containing QV Bath Oil if an increased antipruritic effect is desired.
After Bath or Shower: Use QV Skin Lotion (non-perfumed) for continued emollient effect.
